New Drawing Winner: Loretta Leonard

(Marshall, TX) During the recent 3rd Saturday at the Mall and Back-to-School Shopping Extravaganza held by the Marshall Mall, the Marshall Chamber of Commerce sponsored a drawing for a $50 gift certificate to be used at one of the participating shops or businesses in the Marshall Mall that are also current members of the Marshall Chamber of Commerce.

Chamber Board Chairman, George Carter, conducted the drawing and the winner is Loretta Leonard of Marshall, TX! Ms. Leonard was excited to learn her name had been drawn as the winner. She said, "Oh, I have never won anything before!"

President Obama told liberal clergy that those who claim his health care plan will provide taxpayer funding for abortions are "bearing false witness." But it's the president who is not being truthful with the American people.

The Capps Amendment, passed by Democrats in the Energy and Commerce Committee at the end of July, specifically says that the "public health insurance option shall provide coverage for (abortion) services," and directs the "Commissioner" to "assure" that every American will have access "to at least one ... plan that provides coverage of (abortion) services."

California Democrat Zoe Lofgren admitted in a town hall meeting this month that "abortion will be covered by one or more of the health care plans available to Americans."

Even the Associated Press wrote that ObamaCare "would allow a new government-sponsored insurance plan to cover abortions."

Democrats in the House and Senate have voted down every attempt to make sure abortion funding is kept out of the health care proposal.

There are many reasons to oppose ObamaCare, but stopping the taxpayer funding of abortion is perhaps the most important. Help us protect the life of the unborn by working with us to stop ObamaCare in its tracks.

ILLEGALS WIN BENEFITS AT TAXPAYER'S EXPENSE

Rep. Nathan Deal (R-Ga.) offered an amendment to the House Energy and Commerce Committee this morning that would explicitly prohibit illegal aliens from receiving health care benefits under the health care reform bill (H.R. 3200). The amendment was narrowly defeated 28-to-29 after two Blue Dog Democrats on the committee voted against the amendment.

Under the health care bill, states would be required to automatically enroll non-traditional Medicaid individuals to the proposed government-run option, but the bill does not provide any language that would require the states to verify citizenship status before the enrollment. Rep. Deal's amendment would require them to verify an individual's citizenship status before automatically enrolling them.

"There are 11 million-plus illegal aliens in the nation," Rep. Deal said during his introduction of the amendment. "We want to make sure that this bill does no extend benefits to those not in the country illegally.
