News of the destruction of BIG PINES LODGE by fire caught all of East Texas by surprise.

A Saturday evening fire claimed Karnack's Big Pine Lodge. The building was fully engulfed and burned to the ground.
According to the Marshall News Messenger, "A fire marshal at the scene said 125 customers and several crew members were inside at the time."

No injuries were reported.
