Marshall City Commission fails the first test

Word has it that failure to post the agenda in a timely manner forces cancellation of the meeting

According to an article posted on East Texas Towns.com,

"The regular City Commission meeting scheduled for Thursday, January 8, 2009 was unexpectedly cancelled. City Manager Frank Johnson confirmed that the meeting had to be cancelled because the agenda was not posted in accordance with the Texas Open Meeting Act."

"The problem appears to be related to changes in the front office at City Hall. Last November, Mr. Johnson named Artis Wright as the new Assistant City Manager, replacing Janet Cook who retired at the end of the year. In January, Mr. Johnson moved Mr. Wright's secretary to the city manager's secretary position. The previous secretary has been reassigned."

Seems our city could be better organized as we start 2009.
Musical chairs within City Hall seem to have started off the year with a cancellation of the first public meeting. Let's hope the rest of the year turns to be more productive.
